I have always hated shaving my bikini line with a razor. Not only do I have to find a way to perch myself on the edge of the tub, there are always bumps, ingrown hairs, and cuts from the blade to worry about. This is why I decided to check out the Body Bare personal shaver, offered at PersonalShavers.com.
The website explains that the Body Bare “will shave your pubic area closer, faster, easier and most importantly safer than anything else on the market…period!” This definately sounds more appealing than a razor, so I decided to give it a try. I emailed the staff at Personal Shavers to ask if the rechargeable shaver was bulkier than their battery operated shaver. Customer service was quick to respond and explained that the rechargeable version was a little shorter and fatter, but that both types of shavers were comfortable to use. I decided to go for the Body Bare and Feminine Trimmer combo. The Feminine trimmer is an ultra-fine comb trimmer that can be used anywhere to remove unwanted hair. The trimmer is intended to be used on long hair, while the Body Bare shaver is used on the remaining stubble to render your skin baby smooth!
I was thrilled when my shaver and trimmer arrived about a week and a half later, packaged carefully in a plain brown box. I was excited to see that the rechargeable shaver was indeed a manageable size and is in fact quite cute! You could easily carry this shaver around in your purse if need be, and most people would mistake it for some type of cosmetic accessory. To recharge the shaver, a small wall plug is included that plugs into the bottom of the shaver, enabling you to plug it into any electrical outlet. No wires to get tangled, no massive charging station to store in the bathroom, just one tiny plug. A little brush is also included for proper cleaning of the shaver.
Naturally, I wanted to try out the shaver immediately, but it has to be charged for twelve hours before it’s first use. While it was charging, I loaded a battery into my Feminine trimmer and tested it out. It laid waste to the long soft hairs on my forearm, and my boyfriend had a go at his nostril hair and face. The trimmer gently trimmed away hair anywhere we tested it! This is definately a cool product, but the ultimate test yet awaits… how well does the trimmer work on pussy hair? And will the Body Bare get things soft and smooth?
Last night I decided to give my new Body Bare a try. After applying a generous amount of baby powder (these are dry shavers), I trimmed my bikini line with the Feminine trimmer. I was impressed at how gentle it trims and had no reason to worry about nicking my skin. Next, I began to use my Body Bare. Holding it at a right angle, I tentatively moved it around in circles and could hear it shaving away my unsightly stubble. Seeing that it wasn’t going to cut my skin I began to shave my bikini line quite happily. I was very pleased to see that I could shave even the most sensitive parts of my pussy without worrying about pinches or cuts. This shaver is extremely gentle!
update: The first few times I used this shaver, I wasn’t very good at getting a close shave. However, I’ve learned that using a lot of baby powder helps, and using the trimmer to get things trimmed as close as possible before following up with the Body Bare makes all the difference. The trimmer is quite safe to use right up against your skin, so I shave everything down to a very short stubble. From there, the Body Bare, used in small circles, cleans everything up baby smooth!
I’m pretty damn happy with my Body Bare and Feminine Trimmer. Why fuss around with water, soap, and poor quality razors when you can grab your handy Body Bare and shave to your heart’s content? It’s convenient, it’s clean, it’s safe, and hell, it even looks good! And now that I’ve got this shaving with an electric razor thing down, no red bumps!
